Link Between Mental Health & Cancer

Roughly 1 in 3 of all cancer patients also have a behavioral health issue, and a study from the Evernorth Research Institute shows that having a person with a cancer diagnosis engaged in behavioral health treatment significantly impacts avoidable ER visits and boosts outcomes. Some health plans and medical centers are integrating behavioral health and oncology by incorporating distress screenings into oncology case management, bringing together specialists including social workers and psychiatrists and referring patients to community support groups.
