Are AI Health Workers The Future?
With the increasing utilization of computer generated artificial intelligence (AI), many in the industry wonder if it’s a threat or benefit to health workers. The National Library of Medicine released a panel discussion where the resounding response is “no” because AI can revolutionize healthcare through speeding up referral times and performing menial tasks.
The World Health Organization updated one of their more successful AI creations with the idea of helping people to quit smoking in mind.
The World Health Organization debuted an updated beta version of their AI “Digital Health Worker” named Florence version 2.0, in partnership with the Qatar Ministry of Health, at the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH).
Florence was originally created in mind with tech giants Amazon Web Services, Google and Soul Machine Technology who created the people in the film Avatar.
Florence is an innovative platform who can offer advice on mental health, give tips to de-stress, and provide other health guidance in seven different languages. Her new version in particular is helping to combat the issue of smoking. With the news that smokers are more likely to be severely impacted by Covid-19, it caused millions to want to quit smoking. Florence has the ability to engage in real time conversation with smokers, help them build a plan to quit and refer them to toll free quit lines or apps recommended by WHO.
Florence’s first version has helped to fight misinformation about Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic and is now set to focus on helping people worldwide live overall healthier lives.
