Eating Disorder Hospitalizations Double

The number of individuals who were hospitalized for eating disorders due to the pandemic doubled in 2020, according to JAMA research.

To meet these demands, Aetna, a CVS Health company, is partnering with Equip, which provides virtual, evidence-based eating disorder treatment for a range of eating disorders.

The Equip partnership is currently available in six states; including New York and Texas, and will possibly include more in 2023. Equip will be able to reach more people through this collaboration, using the Family-Based Treatment model which uses a five-person dedicated care team which consists of a therapist, dietitian, physician, a peer and a family mentor to support the person in their recovery.

This collaboration will treat young adults ages 6-24.

The growth in eating disorders is linked to social media. Click here for the story.
