When Your Kids Are Worried About Your Marathon Playlist

So I once got lost running to the front door...in my own home...which is really hard to do...so running a 26 mile marathon seems like a huge risk for me, but I'm willing to give it a go to support the great non profit Boston Bulldogs Running Club that helps so many people and families with addiction recovery and wellness. I will run in memory of my cousin Matt, my tennis partner Troy and for all of us just trying to manage ourselves and stay well. I was excited to tell the kids but they said they were candidly a little worried because my music playlist is 99% Broadway songs and show tunes. “I’m worried Les Miz at mile 13 is going to be a problem dad,” Sophie said. Tommy was at least helpful - “Why don’t you try Evanescence,” which sounded to me like the name of Anthem’s new health insurer…or a body spray, but I’ll give it a shot. And heck, I figured I've written enough over the years about the influence of running on our mental health that I guess it's high time I go for it. I’m not getting any younger that’s for sure. Thanks to my son Jackie for working with me on telling the story of the Bulldogs in our first ever documentary (uncut version here) and to my bride and kids for telling me I should probably train...to make a donation (all proceeds go to support the running club, click here.
